We all watched a raccoon run across the frozen river this morning. It's the first animal we've seen walking across the surface other than birds. It was pretty cool to see.

2-17-2015 Baby It's Cold Outside
We have been experiencing some record breaking cold. Thankfully, the house seems to be staying warm at about 69-70 set at 70.
The river looks to be frozen over. It has about 4 inches of snow that we got overnight sitting on top of it. It's surreal to look out the windows and have it looks so still.

2-13-2015
Something very, very good has happened. We seem to have finally hired plumbers who have figured out the many, many issues with our heating system. The past few days have been very cold and windy and the house has held it's temperature at 69 to 70 degrees. This is rather miraculous. I am reluctant to celebrate quite yet, but if it lasts another few weeks, I will be ecstatic!
Charlie and the kids are at a boys' high school basketball championship game tonight. I didn't go along for the following reasons: because I really didn't want to, I work tomorrow and need to get up bright and early, they took along 2 boys from Charlie and Luke's basketball team plus a friend for Lily so the car was pretty full, it's absolutely arctic outside and I just want to be snuggled up in bed.

2-4-2015 Luke's Twelfth Birthday
Today is Luke's 12th birthday. I woke him for school this morning by singing "Happy Birthday." He went to middle school for math, as he does every day. Afterwards we took at quick trip to Walmart in search of thermal underwear. We had no luck on that particular quest. Then we headed home where Luke opened all his birthday cards. He didn't want a birthday lunch. Nor does he want a birthday cake. It seems he wants the day to be low-key.
He is planning a trip to Sky Zone in the near future, possibly this Sunday. Charlie will not be jumping on the trampolines this time. His back is still recovering from when he did that for Luke's 1/2 birthday in August.
We have snow on the ground. Most days have been in the 20s. Today is a high of 40. It feels like spring when the sun is out. We may get a little snow overnight.
